SRI LANKAN FALK SONGS

There are few countries where you can see the singing style that is unique to a county. Among them, our country has a unique folk singing style.
    So, folk song is a medium through which they express their feelings. Moreover, these folk songs are created according to the different needs of the people. So these folk songs were an important factor in ancient society.

Sri Lankan folk songs can be divided into two main parts. There are,
                      1. Gami Gee
                      2. Se Gee,
                                      There are many several folk songs in our society. There are,

• 'Pel Kavi'
• 'Nelum Kavi' 
• 'Goyam Kavi' 
• 'Paru Kavi' 
• 'Prashasti'  
• 'Wannam'                                   are some of them.
  
  
  Folk songs have simple music and simple language. As well as it is designed to be understood by anyone who knows the Sinhala language. In the past, these folk songs came by word of mouth and some of them were written in books, but nowadays these folk songs can also be found on the internet. As well as in addition, new songs can be created using these folk songs.
