I am interested in folk music, traditional plays, songs, dramas, etc.
Sokari is one of the main traditional drama in Sri Lanka.


Introduction

               Sokari is a traditional drama item. It is most popular in Kandy and associated areas. Sokari drama has a story.

Sokari, Guruhami, and Paraya main characters in this drama .They are Indian people who came here. They came here by ship. This Sokari drama presents the events that take place after their arrival in Sri Lanka.
So in this way, the story goes on according to what happens to them. As well as sometimes this story varies from area to area. Story acted by different characters. The characters in Sokari drama,

• Sokari
• Guruhami
• Paraya
• Wedarala
• Kaali amma
• Hettiya  are some of them.
  
  My experience
  When I was little we went to Balangod my aunty's home. They said there was a Sokari play at night. After that, we decided to go see it. Then we went to watch the Sokari drama around 8.30 pm. When we go there it was full of people. It started around 9 pm. All players are in Sokari drama who played by male players.The purpose of this drama is to receive blessings from God and to cultivate their crops. We have never seen Sokari drama before that day. It's about 2.00 am when Sokari ends. After that, we came back home.
  We think we got a good experience.
